Dancer’s Appearance (Hair & Make-up)

Make-up: All dancers will need to wear make-up.  The stage lights will wash out their beautiful faces if you do not use make-up. The Photo shows how make-up and hair are suppose to look.

Eyes: Black Eye liner, black mascara or fake eyelashes.  For eye shadow dark colors; brown, dark burgundy or dark green eye shadow as these colors will show up very well on stage. Please NO blues, Hot Pinks or Bright Purples.

Cheeks:  Plenty of blush so we can see the cheeks from the audience (but not too much, we don’t want to look like a clown).

Lips: Dark Red lipstick- The dancers may not like to wear red but this will allow the audience to see their smile from the back of the Theatre. Lip stain by Revlon, Cover Girl, Maybelline & Lip Sense works very well.

Hair: Baby Ballet classes will wear their hair down and styled but you will need to pull the front back so it will not fall in their face. ALL other dancers will wear their hair in a low ponytail with a part over the left eye. For all ballet classes, except baby ballet, ponytail will be put in a sock bun.

Little girl make up example. **only baby ballerinas may wear their hair down. All other dancers must have their hair in a sock bun.

NO BANGS! YOUR DANCER WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON STAGE IF HER HAIR IS FIXED INAPPROPRIATELY!

Earrings: all dancers will wear CLEAR Round Rhinestone Studs.  If your dancer does not have pierced ears, we have the solution...  From past experience we have found that eyelash glue will hold a round rhinestone on the earlobe better than any other glue and it is much more comfortable than clip on earrings.  We have just received a great selection of rhinestone earrings at Chic or Shabby Dancewear for your convenience. NO OTHER JEWLERY WILL BE ALLOWED!

Nail Polish: There will be NO Colored Polish allowed on fingernails or toenails. If you have French tips or a French manicure, it will be allowed.

Tights:  All dancers will wear tights sold in Chic or Shabby.) Your costume information sheets & videos will tell you what color is needed for each dance.  Chic or Shabby Dancewear also has a list of each dance and knows what color tights are needed. If your dancer is in more than one dance, we suggest she wear her Light Suntan tights for the entire show, it will make getting other tights off and on much easier.
